Good morning Friends,
Well here it is, my favorite time of the year.
Trees are turning and leaves are falling. The air is starting to get crisp and this is what I get to look at in my own back yard.
Now the leaves will disappear after the trees are empty and then a few weeks later the cold weather will come. What a beautiful sight.
I really don't have to go to the mountains to see God's handy work.
If you would just take a little time and go for a drive out into the country you too would be able to see trees changing colors and leaves falling.
Some times we get so busy in our lives we forget some of the things we did as a child.
On Sunday's when I was a child my sweet Godly mother would fix a HUGE dinner with 2 fried chickens that she would wash and cut up herself, fix an egg and flour mixture and put that in a large bowl with her chicken, salt and pepper and put in the frig. until we got back from Sunday School and church.
Then she would roll her chicken in flour and fry it golden brown. She would have home made yeast rolls, fresh green beans out of the garden, corn, potato salad made without ONIONS, macaronni salad, fresh peas from the garden, she would have green onions, tomatoes and a plate of cucumbers in a little vinegar and sugar. What a dinner. We would all pitch in and wash and dry dishes sweep the kitchen floor and then pile into the car and go for a drive. All we did was look at the things that we would not see through the week. It was wonderful. You know we even got back so that we would be in church for Sunday night service. What a way to grow up.
Now all of this food was my dad's work and labor that he would do all through the summer in his most beautiful garden. He was a very hard worker. He would work hard all morning in his garden and then come home just in time to eat a bite and then get ready for his job. Working in the coal mines which was know in West Virginia as the whodale shift. He was such a good provider. Worked hard all of his life. Of course when you have had 3 sets of twins and 3 singles you have to work hard.
I loved my daddy. He was never one to tell you that he loved you or sit you on his knee and talk with you, he showed his love by his work. That is the only way my dad knew how to say "I love you".
It would be wonderful to have my dad back today. Not to work hard but just to be able to say once more, Dad I love you and thank you for all of your hard work that you did for me and the other brothers and sisters.
We take so much for granted when our parents are here on this earth.
He did not go to church and was a hard man but he was MY dad and I loved him anyway.
If you still have both your parents please let them know while you still have them how much you love them. When they are no longer with you things will change in your life and you will remember all the times you could have said those 3 little words that mean the world to parents to hear. "I LOVE YOU" .
Have a wonderful day and I love all of you.

I remember those Sunday dinners. Your mom started me on my way to a 44 waist. hehehehe
Both my parents are gone now too. And yes, it would be great to have them back just to touch and tell them that we love them. But, that cannot be, so, I will tell the product of their love...you....I love you.

Ahhhhhhhh, daddy, your comment was so sweet. lol.

Mom, you're right. We do take so much for granted. I hope you and daddy know how much I, and my whole family, appreciate all that you have done for us through the years. And I hope you know how much I love you. When you become and spouse and parent, it's difficult to continue being a child to your parents without compromising the responsibilities of your own family. But here in the Morrow home, we love you and daddy from the bottom of our hearts. We love you all the way to Heaven!

Janice, I enjoyed your post so much. It brought back so many memories to me of my childhood and my Mom and Dad. Mine were much like your except my Dad did not work in the coal mine but he did do construction work. Going for that little drive after lunch was over was our favouite thing to do. I too, wish I had them back to say, "I love you" just one more time and tell them how much I apprecite all the things that they taught me and thank them for the love they showed us nine children. thanks. connie from texas
